Ferns

Sensitive Fern
The Sensitive Fern, ‘Onoclea sensibilis,’ is a very large, somewhat course fern. This deciduous plant occurs naturally in woods and thickets, as well as in moist soils along streams and springs. This plant can grow to four feet in total height. Its long stalked, deeply separated, bright green fronds are leathery, and have distinctly netted veins. The dead fronds should not be removed until spring, as they provide protection for the crowns oven the winter.
