Five Leaf Akebia
The Chocolate Vine, ‘Akebia quinata,’ is a twining, woody vine that can also be used as a nice groundcover. It will easily grow to the size of its support structure, and sometimes reaches up to forty feet in height. Its stems are divided into five or fewer, and small stems will meet in a central zone. This vine is deciduous in cooler climates, but will remain evergreen in warmer locations. It should be planted in full sun in optimal soil texture for best results. This is a very rapid grower that will need to be cut back throughout the season, and cut to the ground at the end of the summer.
