American Maidenhair Fern
The American Maidenhair Fern, ‘Adiantum pedatum,’ is a clump formind deciduous fern. It will typically grow to two feet tall, and is most frequently found on rich wooden slopes, ravine bottoms and damp shady woods. American maidenhair ferns grow best in moist, shady conditions, but will grow in sunnier locations with more moisture. The wiry stems are reddish brown to black in color. Coiled young fiddleheads will emerge pink in the springtime. The gorgeous foliage will be shown of in container planting, foundation plantings and groundcovers.
