Alpine Currant
The Alpine Currant, ‘Ribes alpinum,’ forms a very dense hedge with its abundant, glossy green foliage. This is a very hardy hedge plant, and it can be trimmed to any desired height ranging from eighteen inches to four feet. It can be used as a privacy hedge and grows well in sunlight or shade. Rarely bothered by insects or plant diseases, the Alpine Currant is able to survive the coldest of winter climates, with annual temperatures as low as –50 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also drought tolerant and does will in drier soils.
